Governance

In 1966 Elvira Arbelaez de Pardo founded 'La Candelaria', a private Catholic bilingual girls school. The School was then purchased in September 2012 by KSI and KSI Bogota was established.

The Head of the school is Wallace Ting. The Head of the School is engaged by the Executive Team that are based at the Knightsbridge Schools International Head Office, London.

Dimitri Goulandris - Executive Director and Board Member

Dimitri is a founder of KSI, Knightsbridge School London and the founder and Managing Partner of Cycladic Capital LLP, set up in 2002 to focus on making public and private investments in small and medium sized companies with a particular focus on greenfield start‐ups. Previously Dimitri set up and ran the European operations of the private equity firm, Whitney & Company, and spent eight years at Morgan Stanley in the private equity group and investment banking. He currently serves on the Boards of Journey Group plc., Gemini Equipment & Rentals (Private) Limited and MonuRent Limited (Mauritius). Dimitri is also a Director and Advisory Board member of Knightsbridge School Limited. Dimitri has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a Masters in Electrical and Information Sciences from Cambridge University.

Ursula Ings-Chambers - Chief Financial & Operating Officer

Ursula joined KSI in September 2013 from the first Venture Capital-backed school in the UK. Ursula was an integral member of the executive team responsible for the build, set up and management of this highly successful school, achieving outstanding accolades and profitability within its first year of operation. Qualified in 1994, Ursula has worked for a number of global companies in the property, hotel, telecoms and IT sectors with roles based in Sydney, London, Los Angeles and Cape Town. Ursula brings to KSI her experience and strengths in managing start-up operations, controlling investment funds and providing financial and operational leadership for international groups.  Ursula is a member of the ASCPA and graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with honours.

 

Oriana Torres -  Business Development Manager

Oriana joined KSI to catalyze Head Office's strategies in one of KSI's  biggest regions, Latin America. Prior joining KSI, she was part of the management team of global organizations such as AIESEC, Endeavor and Babson College, leading projects at the intersection of entrepreneurship and education in Latin America, Europe, India and Rwanda. Oriana is a 2013 MBA graduate from Babson College.

Magoo Giles - Chief Ethos Officer

Magoo is the founder of Knightsbridge School. Previously he was the  Headmaster of Garden House Boys' School from 2000 – 2006. He was commissioned in to the Coldstream Guards. He also served as Aide de Camp to Lieutenant General the Hon Sir William Rous for two years and Personal Equerry to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for two years. Magoo is a keen sportsman whose other interests include "children, travel, public speaking/entertaining, writing children’s stories and his family.“ Magoo was educated at Eton College

Anita Bird - ​Human Resource Director

Having graduated from Bristol University, Anita started her career in industry, initially in a range of general management roles prior to specialising in HR. Following European HR Directorships in high-tech and IT companies, Anita established her own consultancy business in 1999.  Specialising in translating business strategy into all strands of HR practice, Anita has built on her technology background, providing strategic and operational advice for organisations in education, the third sector and publishing.

Marika Ristanovska - Finance & Investor Manager

Marika gained her BA degree in Banking with Economics and Law at London Metropolitan University and then obtained her postgraduate diploma in Business Administration at Leicester University. She is a qualified overseas teacher with previous experience in the business environment.

Richard Tangye -  Chairman

Richard is Chairman of KSI. Richard is currently the Principal of St. Dominic’s International School, Lisbon. His previous roles include, CEO of the STS Educational Group in Bangladesh and CEO of the International School Dhaka. He has been directly involved in building new international schools across Asia and is currently a member of the IB Asia Pacific Regional Council. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Council of International Schools (“CIS”) from 2004 to 2010.  Richard serves on the Boards of a number of international schools across the globe. Prior to joining CIS, Richard was the Chief Executive of the Restaurant Group for Jardine Matheson Holdings (one of the largest YUM brands franchisee with 300 restaurants across Asia), where he launched and operated businesses across the Asia-Pacific for sixteen years. Richard began his career as a teacher with VSO and then spent nine years in international management with SGS Group. He was educated at Winchester College and holds an MA in Economics and Politics from Cambridge.

Phokion Potamianos

Mr. Potamianos is the general partner of Sylvina Capital, a private family investment firm based in San Francisco, since 2010.  Mr Potamianos serves on a number of boards including the Gennadius Library/American School of Classical Studies, Knightsbridge Schools International and La Jolla Country Day School, and  the Sonnabend Collection Foundation. He is a former board member of Numonyx Corp, MagnaChip Semiconductor, AMI Semiconductor, and Velti Corp.From 2005-2010, Potamianos was a partner and a member of the investment committee of Francisco Partners, a $10 billion technology-focused private equity fund based in San Francisco. Before joining Francisco Partners, Potamianos was an investment banker and research analyst on Wall Street. He served as head of the UBS global semiconductor investment banking group with responsibilities in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Earlier in his career, from 1997-2000, he was an institutional investor ranked research analyst of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York City. Potamianos received a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Dr. Donald Jeffrey Keller

Jeff was the Superintendent of the American School Foundation of Monterrey (ASFM) in Monterrey, Mexico from 1994 until his retirement in June of 2013.   ASFM is considered by many to be one of the top ten American International Schools in the world. Jeff earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado and a Masters and Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Alabama. Jeff has been involved in international education since 1975. He has been the Headmaster of three different schools in Colombia, Guatemala, and Mexico. He has been President of the Tri-Association of American Schools (Colombia-Caribbean, Central America, and Mexico), President of ASOMEX (American Schools of Mexico), Chairman of the Latin American Committee of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of AdvancED, the world’s largest school accrediting organisation.

William Russell

William is a co founder of Knightsbridge School in 2006 and currently sits on the Board. He is a former MD at Merrill Lynch, he is now an Alderman of the City and a past Sheriff.
William has been a Governor of a number of academies, at present he is a Governor of the City of London School for Girls and on the Board of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He was previous Chairman of PCUK and presently Deputy Chair of Place2be . He was educated at Eton and Durham University.

George Attard-Manche

George is a non-executive director of KSI. George spent forty years serving in the British Army worldwide including a five year stint as the Defence Attaché in Bulgaria. He then spent nine years in Germany in Public Relations for the Ministry of Defence. George currently serves on the Boards of Foinavon SICAV PLC, Kincsem Ltd, Kincsem 2 Ltd and Wine Investments Ltd.

Alex Bezugly 

Alex is currently responsible for a run-off of investment portfolio managed by Alfa Capital Partners, a Private Equity Firm dedicated to former Soviet Countries and Turkey. Prior to joining Alfa Capital Partners as Managing Director in March 2008, Mr Bezugly worked as Head of Private Equity at RIT Capital Partners plc, a closed-end listed investment trust chaired by Lord Jacob Rothschild. During his time at RIT, he was instrumental in setting up and co-managing private equity investments at TAU Capital PLC, a closed-end listed investment fund targeting Kazakhstan and Central Asia. In 1998-2002, he worked at M&A and Private Equity departments of Lehman Brothers in London. Mr. Bezugly commenced his career in 1996 with Creditanstalt Investment Bank in New York.  Mr. Bezugly received his BA in Economics with Honors from the Moscow State University (Lomonosov). Mr. Bezugly was a Scholar at the London School of Economics. He is a British/Russian national.

Mamoun Askari

Mamoun is CEO/CIO of Hasma Capital Advisors a Single Family Office based in London and Hong Kong managing global investments portfolios across multiple asset classes including fixed income, equities, hedge funds, private equity and real estate. Mamoun assumed this role in 2007. Prior to that, he was Managing Director and a Partner at Investcorp, in both London and New York, where he spent 16+ years investing in leveraged buyouts. He began his career at Deloitte Haskins & Sells in London. Mamoun received a BA from Dartmouth College and his MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
